Storm Sewer Installation Continues. Working on Southern Portion.

The contractor, Kovilic Construction,  continued with the rear-yard storm sewer improvements between Rolling Pass and Prairie Lawn Road from Glenview Road to Linneman Street.

Last week, the contractor completed the northerly section of storm sewer, including all storm sewer services, from the homes between 957 Prairie Lawn/934 Rolling Pass to 921 Prairie Lawn/906 Rolling Pass.

The contractor has also completed all of the tree trimming, removal, or transplanting as necessary to access the site. The contractor has also removed the required fencing and other landscaping items required to complete the project.

The contractor also started on the southerly section of the storm sewer improvements at 911 Prairie Lawn/902 Rolling Pass and will be working south towards Linneman Street.

It is anticipated the work in these rear-yards will take another 2-3 weeks to complete. The progress is slower than anticipated due to the tight conditions they were working in and only able to access to site from the south at Linneman Street.  As they continue to move south, the progress should become quicker because there is less travel from their singular access point to the location they are installing the storm sewer.

Thank you again to all the residents who have been dealing with the construction in the back yards for the past 2 weeks. This past week was especially difficult due to the amount of rain and made the work area very sloppy.  Please be assured the Village is working with the contractor to ensure the work is progressing as quickly as possible with the least amount of disruption. The contractor is responsible for restoring landscaping items that are disrupted during the construction process.

Rear-Yard Storm Sewer Started.

The contractor, Kovilic Construction, has started construction on the rear-yard storm sewer improvements between Rolling Pass and Prairie Lawn Road from Glenview Road to Linneman Street.

The Village, contractor, and engineer have spent a considerable amount of time determining the best location for the storm sewer to minimize the disruption to the existing landscape and personal items located in the rear yards. The contractor began removing fences, trimming and removing trees, and relocating personal items throughout the week.

There have been a number of attempts to be in contact with the residents along the project site to inform them of the work to be completed adjacent to their property and what items would be disturbed. We have also tried to be in contact with residents to determine the best location of storm sewer services along their property.  If you have not been notified or been in contact with the engineer or contractor regarding these issues, please contact Greg Boldt at gboldt@glenview.il.us or 847-904-4421.

The contractor began installing the new storm sewer starting on the north end of the project, behind House Number 949 Prairie Lawn Road and working south. The contractor is anticipating to have work completed on the northerly end of the project, to House Number 921 Prairie Lawn by the end of the weekend. The mainline will likely be installed, but storm sewer services to individual homes will likely not be completed until early next week in the area.  

The contractor is anticipating to work this Saturday, October 11^th. The contractor working hours on Saturday are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Next week, the contractor will complete the work on the north end of the project and begin the work at the southerly end of the project. The contractor will likely start behind 801 Prairie Lawn Road and work north to 911 Prairie Lawn Road.

We would like to thank all the residents again who have been in contact with the Village, contractor, and engineer during this entire process. Please be assured all parties are doing everything possible to minimize the disruption to the area while still providing this needed improvement.

Start of Work Delayed due to Weather

Due to the recent rains and weather conditions, the start of the project is delayed by 1 to 2 days. The contractor was initially planning to start the storm sewer improvements on Monday, October 6th. Due to the weather conditions, the contractor will likely start construction on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Construction Anticipated to Begin October 6th

On Monday, October 6^th, the storm sewer improvements in the rear yards between Rolling Pass and Prairie Lawn Road from Glenview Road to Linneman Street are anticipated to begin.

The work will include installing a new storm sewer and inlets in the rear yard easement. Residents will have the option to make private connections to this storm sewer system once it is completed.

The contractor, Kovilic Construction, is anticipated to begin on the south side of the project near Linneman Street and work north towards Glenview Road.

The typical working hours for the contractor will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, depending on work progress. Should extended hours be requested and granted, we will let you know as soon as possible. We do not anticipate any driveway or parking restrictions along the roadway at this time; however, there will be additional vehicles, construction equipment, and materials stored along the project route.

It is anticipated the work will be completed in 2 to 3 weeks, depending on weather and conditions encountered.  

As you are likely aware, construction operations can be unpredictable. We will do our best to keep you informed of all that is going on that will affect your daily lives. One of the biggest concerns with the construction is the presence of an existing water main in the rear yard easement. It is not our intention to perform any work on this water main; however, there is always a possibility that something may be hit or damaged during construction. In this case, the water main will need to be shut-down immediately without much warning. We will attempt to go door-to-door to let residents know what happened, but our first priority will be to turn off the water main and get it repaired as quickly as possible. In the case of any scheduled repairs on the water main, 24-hour notice will be provided to all the residents affected by the shut-down.
